The creator behind EJ's Highland Creations

EJ's Highland Creations is the brainchild of Ellen Thornell and was created in May 2022 to share my love of the Highlands of Scotland. I decided to create a business that focused on showcasing my skills as an artist and photographer by making individually handmade beautiful gift items using locally foraged or beach combed materials.

Where possible I have created products using materials that are recycled, sustainable and eco-friendly. The aim of my business is to produce lovely products that have the minimum impact on the environment.

Based in the Cairngorms National Park in Scotland, with my husband James Orpwood, I enjoy outdoor activities such as mountain biking, skiing and walking. I enjoy exploring the Scottish Highlands and Islands as well as the colder and wilder parts of the world. Exploring remote and little-known places, I specialise in landscape, wildlife and travel photography, and anything that catches my eye!

My photography has been published internationally and features regularly in the local press.
